I'd recommend staying away from Velocity Micro in general and this PS47 in particular.First, there's the issue of the warranty and whether my unit was new or refurbished. New PS47's have a 1 year warranty, while refurbished units have a 90 day warranty. I paid for a new PS47 and there was a 90 day warranty card in the box. I called Velocity Micro and the person I spoke with suggested I may have received a refurbished unit. He couldn't figure anything out from the UPC and told me to contact the seller. I did that, but I also opened a support ticket with Velocity Micro, and this time they asked me for both the UPC and the serial number. However, there was no follow-up, and I gave up after a week. As an aside, the link they emailed for viewing the ticket's status online didn't work either ("permission denied").I decided to give this unit a chance and started setting it up with some free apps -- Mantano Reader Free, Netflix, and Acrobat Reader. Keep in mind the PS47 is locked to the Amazon app store; there is no access to the Google Play Store (formerly Android Market). This was a complete failure as well. After using a separate computer to enable 1-click ordering and associate a credit card with my default address, I was finally able to "buy" a few free apps. However, the Amazon App Store refused to download anything into this device. I updated the Amazon App Store app through the Cruz Market and had the same failures. A factory reset didn't help, and there are no firmware updates available for the PS47 either.Along the way I found a few web pages that wouldn't render correctly, including the Amazon App Store's "Getting Started" page. There were certificate errors galore on Amazon & Google web pages that display with no complaints on other computers.Since I was already on the fence about this possibly-refurbished-instead-of-new tablet, the complete inability to install new apps made it an easy decision to return this for a refund. If you're shopping for a tablet, I recommend spending a little extra to get one that will work with the official Google Play Store repository for Android apps. I've been using that to install apps on my Android phone and it's been easy, seamless, and trouble-free.
